RA6a: Additional observations, Evidence of esteem
Professor Görner is a member of the academic advisory board of KulturPoetik of the Advisory Committee of the Austrian Cultural Institute (London), the Academic Advisory Boards of the Alexander Lernet-Holenia Gesellschaft für Literatur, and of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für österreichische Literatur und Kultur. He regularly reviews for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Die Presse (Vienna), Frankfurter Rundschau, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. He has acted since 1996 as External Examiner for Higher Degrees at University of East Anglia and the University of London (University College and King’s College). The University of Bochum has invited him to co-supervise and co-examine a PhD thesis.Since 1995 Professor Flood has been a Corresponding Member of the Historical Commision for the History of the Book of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, Frankfurt/Main; he is Vice-President of The Bibliographical Society; Treasurer of the Henry Sweet Society for the History of Linguistic Ideas; member of the Council of the Philological Society, and was until 2000 also a council member of the Society for Renaissance Studies. He is a member of the editorial board of the Archiv für Geschichte des Buchwesens, The Library, and executive editor of the Henry Sweet Society Studies in the History of Linguistics, as well as responsible for the Institute’s own series of publications. He has acted as External Examiner for Higher Degrees at the Courtauld Institute of Art and the University of Oxford. He is the official co-supervisor of a doctoral student of the University of Marburg. Professor Flood was appointed Chairman of the assessment panel for German and Related Languages for the HEFCE 1996 Research Assessment Exercise and for German Dutch and Scandinavian Languages for RAE 2001.
