Import with Microsoft Access data

January 2007

The Microsoft Access 2000 database template has been amended to allow the import of user account data. There have been three new tables ("User", "FormPermission", "FunctionPermission") added to the database. Please see the User Guide for further information.

August 2006

Please note that the Microsoft Access 2000 database template has been amended. In the table "RA2CrossReferral", the field "ReferralTo" has changed data type to "Number" with field size "Byte". In tables "RA3a" and "RA3b", the decimal fields now have an upper limit of 9999.99.

March 2006

Please note that the Microsoft Access 2000 database template has been amended. There have been three new fields ("DOI", "InterestConflicts", "DatesConflictExplanation") added to the RA2 Research outputs form. The import engine will still accept both old and new file formats.

January 2006

Please note that the templates have been amended. The name of the "ResearchGroupReferral" table has been changed to "ResearchGroupOutputReferral" to make the Microsoft Access templates consistent with the RAE 2008 XML Schema. The import engine will accept both table names.

October 2005

One of the methods for importing data into the RAE 2008 data collection software is by using Microsoft Access database files (we will accept: 97; 2000; XP; and 2003 versions). The templates listed below give the structure that the data collection software will expect the files to take. Information about the fields in the templates can be found in the 'Guidance on submissions' (RAE 03/2005).

We will provide more information about the import routines of the RAE 2008 data collection system in late autumn.
