Professor Robert Stout

Professor Stout has been Director of Research and Development for the Northern Ireland Health and Personal Social Services since 2002, and is Professor of Geriatric Medicine at Queen's University Belfast. He undertook clinical and research training in Belfast, Hammersmith Hospital, London and the University of Washington in Seattle. He was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Queen's University from 1991-2001. He was a member of the Royal Commission on Long Term Care 1998-1999, President of the British Geriatrics Society 2002 - 2004, Chair of the QAA Benchmarking Panel for Medicine, and a member of the General Medical Council. He is a member of the Board of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, and the Council of the MRC, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Sciences.
