Biography
Professor Michael Fulford is Professor of Archaeology at the University of Reading where he has served as Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences (1994-7) and Pro-Vice-Chancelllor (1998-2004). His principal research interests are in Roman archaeology, particularly in the fields of urbanism, economy and trade. He is a Vice-President of the British Academy where he chairs the Committee for Academy-sponsored Schools and Institutes and he is President of the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies. He was Chair of the RAE 2001 Archaeology panel and was a panel member in 1992 and 1996.
